8 Different packets of flavoured crisps. Each packet is placed on a plate, and the plate clearly marked A through H (a bit of paper with a letter on is sufficient). This is set up on tables on the raised bit of the hall. At 8.30 the kids are given a sheet of paper each and a pen. They then write on their paper in a list the numbers 1 to 8. When your group is ready they can go into the hall, and SAMPLING ONE CRISP EACH can taste the crisps, and see if they can guess what the flavour crisp is.

Do the quiz sheet ... (the answers are attached to this pack)
If faith is taking a promise from God and daring to believe that it is true, how willing are you to trust God?
Look at the picture of the pool. Imagine that the pool represents your relationship or friendship with God, then where would you be in the picture? (e.g. In the changing room, sitting on the edge, sinking, simply bobbing up and down?) Read the story out to the group (or have one of them read it, or share reading. Make sure that they are a good reader though! Or you could tell it in your own words)

Luke 15: 11-24:

The lost son.
Then Jesus said, A man who had two sons. The younger son said to his father, Give me my share of the property. so the father divided the property between his two sons. Then the younger son gathered up all that was his and traveled far away to another country. There he wasted his money in foolish living. After he had spent everything, the time came when there was no food anywhere in the country and the son was poor and hungry. So he got a job with one of the citizens there, who sent the son into the fields to feed pigs - which for the son (whose religion said that he could never touch pigs) was disgusting. The son was soooo hungry that he wanted to eat the food that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. When he realised what he was doing, he thought, All my fathers servants have plenty of food. But I am here, almost dying with hunger. I will leave and return to my father and say to him, Father I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son, but let me be like one of your servants. So the son left and went to his father.
While the son was still a long way off his father saw him and felt sorry for his son. So the father ran to him hugged him and kissed him. The son said, Father, I have sinned against God and done wrong against you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, hurry! Bring the best clothes and put them on him, also, put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get our fat calf and kill it so that we can have a feast and celebrate. My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost but now he is found! So they began to celebrate.

It might be worth explaining that this is a parable - a story Jesus made up to illustrate the point.

Why did the son leave home
What happened to him when he left home
What made him decide to go back home
What did he decide to do
What does the picture of the father tell us what God is like.
Ask how many of them would now be willing to trust Gods promises
